LÍNEA 3: Developing Model Student-Centred Curricula
In Line 3 of the project, the ACE Units – students and academics – have worked on reviewing some key aspects of the curriculum to show how to align existing programmes with the International Qualifications Reference Frameworks developed in Line 1 of the project and to ensure that the programmes incorporate characteristics of the Student-Centered Approach both in their design and in their implementation.
Below you can consult the proposals (in Spanish/Portuguese) created by the teams of the 13 Universities in South America.
They are not models to ‘copy’, since each programme must be (re)designed based on a contextualized desired graduate profile that also reflects ‘the brand’ of the higher education institution that offers the program. However, they are concrete examples that can be used as starting points for
- writing learning outcomes at the programme level – expressing the desired graduate profile in learning outcomes;
- facilitating degree recognition by mapping the desired graduate profile against the Subject-Specific Qualifications Reference Frameworks for South America;
- expressing the full student workload in a format that facilitates recognition throughout Latin America and with higher education institutions operating in the European Higher Education Area;
- writing course learning outcomes, clearly linked to the programme learning outcomes;
- moving towards a full adoption of the Student-Centered Approach in assessment, learning and teaching activities; and, more holistically,
- conducting a curriculum review in a joint team of academics and students, and identifying other actions necessary to fully implement the Student-Centered Approach
